In 1987 Romsey played in the CCA's Division Junior 5 South and was relegated, having come bottom of the table, largely through generally hopeless batting. We were bowled out in eight of the eleven league fixtures, including the debacle to end all debacles when we were dismissed for 23 by Hardwick. On two of the three occasions we weren't dismissed we were 9-down at the 40-over mark; in the one remaining match (our only victory of the year) we lost 6 wickets chasing a target of just 47. (Thanks to Russell Woolf for providing all the above information when, some two decades after the events described above, he decided to go through some old diaries; but after that the full scorebook for the season was recovered, so there are now full averages as well.)
