For the first half of Foxton's innings we had them reasonably under control - 86/2 after 20 overs was certainly healthy, but no indication of the carnage to come. The main problem was that we ran out of bowlers, and in the end we conceded an incredible 252 runs off our last 120 deliveries. The main benificiaries were I. Cambridge (151) and P. Dean (121), who both scored centuries . . . although it was all a bit much for the scorers who put "score book discontinued" with the score on 250/2.
To our credit, though, we gave the chase a real go, with Neal Baker (60), Richard Morris (69) and Tony Mendham (51) all making fifites. And even though we finished up on one of our highest second innings scores (238/8) we still lost by 82 runs.
