Once again we didn't even get to go to bed on Friday even hoping that we might get a game on Saturday. Depressing as it was to miss out on a third consecutive game, today's "no result" probably did our league standing no harm: St Giles would have come into the match undefeated and hence favourites to inflict another defeat on us. We're obviously no closer to catching them up and, with a rather middling league average of 10.60 it seems pretty clear that promotion's not going to happen. However it also appears that we're increasingly safe from relegation, as the bottom two sides, Elsworth and Cherry Hinton, have averages of just 5.25 and 4.40, respectively. Even if we were to lose all our remaining six matches and got just no batting/bowling points each time we'd still end up with an average of 4.82, and obviously we hope to do a little better than that!
