Report by Daniel Mortlock:
Batting first, we got off to a great start thanks to Cam Petrie (24) and Richard Rex (36), who took us to 32/0 after just 3 eight-ball overs. But then some effective bowling changes - and some very effective bowling from one-time Romsey boy Joe White - saw the scoring slow and some wickets fall. Dom Summers (25*) took us close to triple figures, but in the end 94/3 felt short, even in a reduced-format 13x8s game.
Our defense started superbly as Faruk Kara (0/12), Robin Eddington (1/6) and Russell Woolf (0/19, and most unlucky not to get a wicket in his first spell back after serious illness) all proved very hard to get away, and we were some sort of chance when Remnants had made it to just 33/1 after 5 overs. But then we had a blow-out as Dave Clark (0/21) and Andy Owen (0/19) struggled with their line and length, respectively, and in the end we lost by 9 wickets with 31 balls still to be bowled.
